Representatives from the China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council toured Appolonia City development project, exploring potential investment opportunities in Ghana’s industrial and infrastructure sectors.
The delegation included officials from several Ghanaian institutions alongside the Chinese trade representatives. Participants came from the Ministry of Trade, Agri-Business and Industry, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, insurance company GLICO, and the Association of Ghanaian Industries.
Dr. Francis Agyenim Boateng led the visiting group during their assessment of investment possibilities in real estate, infrastructure, agribusiness, and industrial development. The visit represents ongoing efforts to strengthen economic ties between Ghana and China through private sector engagement.
Discussions focused on strategic partnerships that could support Ghana’s industrial growth objectives. Agyenim Boateng highlighted potential benefits including technology transfer, job creation, and positioning Ghana as a regional trade center in West Africa.
Ministry of Trade officials outlined government policies designed to attract foreign investment, emphasizing regulatory frameworks and support mechanisms available to international investors. Representatives emphasized Ghana’s commitment to creating favorable business environments.
The delegation examined Appolonia City’s industrial park, where multiple companies currently operate manufacturing and logistics facilities. Officials received briefings on existing infrastructure, investment incentives, and development opportunities across various sectors.
CSIR and AGI representatives emphasized priorities including technology transfer and support for local industries. The organizations highlighted potential collaboration areas where Chinese investment could complement existing Ghanaian capabilities.
Tour participants explored agribusiness possibilities, light manufacturing prospects, and logistics infrastructure development. The industrial park currently hosts both multinational corporations and domestic companies across different sectors.
Perminas Marisi, Country Head for Rendeavour Ghana and Managing Director for Appolonia City, expressed optimism about future partnerships. He positioned the development as demonstrating modern urban planning approaches in Ghana’s context.
“We are excited about the opportunity to showcase Appolonia City as a model of urban development in Ghana and look forward to working with both local and international partners to scale up investment,” Marisi told the delegation.
